OPEN LETTER TO HON. FEMI BAMISILE: EMURE EKITI DESERVES BETTER — A VOICE FROM A FORGOTTEN COMMUNITY

OPEN LETTER TO HON. FEMI BAMISILE: EMURE EKITI DESERVES BETTER — A VOICE FROM A FORGOTTEN COMMUNITY

To:
Hon. Femi Bamisile
Member, House of Representatives
Ekiti South Federal Constituency II
National Assembly, Abuja

Subject: A Legacy of Neglect and the Deafening Silence — An Appeal for Accountability from Emure-Ekiti

Dear Honourable Femi Bamisile,

We, the undersigned concerned sons and daughters of Emure-Ekiti, write to you not with bitterness, but with an overwhelming sense of pain, disappointment, and betrayal. Our hearts are heavy, not because we expected miracles, but because of the persistent silence and seeming abandonment that your office has dealt our community over the past seven years of your representation.

Emure Ekiti, a historic town rich in culture, tradition, and human capital, remains in the shadows of federal neglect—its people forgotten, its roads impassable, its youth hopeless, and its development stagnant. And unfortunately, Honourable Sir, your office has done little to suggest that this community matters to you.

When you first presented yourself for election, you did so with great eloquence and bold assurances. You visited our communities, looked us in the eye, and promised us better roads, quality healthcare, federal presence, empowerment for our youths, and regular engagement with the people you sought to represent. We rallied around you in unity and hope. We voted for you—not once, but repeatedly. But seven years on, the very promises that earned you our trust have been replaced by a resounding silence and visible absence.

The Realities in Emure Ekiti Today Are Heartbreaking:

  • Our Roads Are Death Traps:
The primary access roads into and around Emure remain deplorable, with potholes, erosion, and total neglect making travel a nightmare. These roads, which should serve as commercial lifelines, have instead become obstacles to growth, mobility, and investment.
  • Our Healthcare System Is Barely Functional:
Our health centres, which ought to provide basic services, are either grossly under-equipped or entirely non-functional. Pregnant women, the elderly, children, and the vulnerable are left to fend for themselves in the absence of any meaningful federal intervention. In times of emergency, the journey to get help can be fatal.
  • Our Youths Are Sidelined and Jobless:
Despite numerous federal schemes under your oversight as our representative, no federal job recruitment, youth empowerment programme, or vocational training initiative has found its way to Emure. Our youths, vibrant and willing to work, remain idle and discouraged.
  • You Have Been Visibly Absent and Silent:
Honourable Bamisile, you have not honoured a single invitation to any community event in Emure Ekiti in nearly eight years. You have been absent at cultural festivals, town hall meetings, development summits, and moments of communal distress or celebration. Your absence has been as loud as your silence.
  • No Visible Federal Project in Emure Under Your Tenure:
To date, there is no identifiable federal presence in Emure that can be directly linked to your office. Whether in terms of road rehabilitation, school upgrades, rural electrification, borehole projects, or market development—Emure has been consistently excluded.

Honourable Sir, What Happened to the Promises?

Your silence over these years speaks louder than any official statement. It suggests that Emure was only useful during election cycles, but is not deserving of your time, resources, or attention after the ballot boxes are closed. It appears we were seen only as voting statistics, not as stakeholders in your legislative agenda.

Leadership is not measured by titles or the number of terms served—it is defined by impact, presence, and accountability. And today, your legacy in Emure stands as one of abandonment, unfulfilled promises, and disconnect from the people you pledged to represent.

This letter is not a declaration of hostility—it is a wake-up call. Emure Ekiti is no longer asleep. Our people are now politically aware. We understand our rights, and we will demand accountability. We will no longer accept neglect disguised as leadership.

We urge you to reflect deeply on this message. The time for speeches is over; we demand visible action. If indeed you still consider Emure part of your constituency, let it show—not in words, but in tangible intervention, community engagement, and policy representation.

As we approach another political cycle, know that the people will remember—not just who spoke, but who showed up.

Emure Ekiti deserves more. Emure Ekiti deserves better.

Yours in truth, duty, and undying hope,
Concerned Sons and Daughters of Emure-Ekiti
(On behalf of a community long overdue for inclusion and respect)
