EMURE-EKITI, EKITI STATE — A grand moment of cultural pride and spiritual reflection is upon the people of Emure-Ekiti, as the ancient town prepares to host an extraordinary double celebration on Saturday, December 6th, 2025. This historic day will feature the Iwuye and Thanksgiving Ceremony of His Royal Majesty, Oba James Babatunde Ajiboye, Otutubiosun I, the Elemure of Emure-Ekiti, alongside the annual Emure Day celebration.
This powerful fusion of royal thanksgiving and communal heritage is expected to be a landmark occasion in the history of the kingdom — a unique day when the crown and the community unite in joyful praise, cultural display, and collective purpose.
A Moment of Dual Significance
The Iwuye Ceremony, a vital traditional rite that signifies the full public unveiling and spiritual affirmation of the monarch’s reign, will offer the people of Emure and friends of the kingdom an opportunity to witness and participate in the cultural depth of Yoruba kingship. This event, steeped in tradition, will be accompanied by a special Thanksgiving Service, where the King, surrounded by royal household members, chiefs, age-grade groups, and spiritual leaders, will render gratitude to God for a peaceful transition and the opportunity to serve.
On the same day, Emure Day 2025 will be celebrated with its signature fanfare — colourful processions, traditional dances, age-grade parades, musical performances and a showcase of Emure’s rich cultural and historical identity. The celebration will also serve as a homecoming for indigenes in the diaspora and an opportunity to rally support for community development projects.
A Royal Legacy in Motion
Since his presentation of the staff of office by the Executive Governor of Ekiti State, His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, His Royal Majesty Oba James Babatunde Ajiboye has shown uncommon dedication to the peace, progress, and development of Emure. His reign is quickly becoming synonymous with accessibility, wisdom and community engagement.
The upcoming Iwuye/Thanksgiving and Emure Day therefore represent more than celebration — they are a symbolic reaffirmation of unity between the throne and the people, between past and future, and between tradition and transformation.
Expectations and Festivities
The combined festivities are expected to attract dignitaries from across the country and beyond — including royal fathers, top government officials, community leaders, business stakeholders, and cultural enthusiasts. The event will also feature:
- Royal Processions and Traditional Rites
- Public Cultural Performances by Local Troupes
- Thanksgiving Worship and Spiritual Reflections
- Artisan Exhibitions and Local Cuisine Showcases
- Youth Talent Display and Intergenerational Storytelling
Call to the People
The Central Planning Committee has urged all sons, daughters, and friends of Emure to begin preparations in earnest, as the town gets ready to welcome the world. The event is expected to not only deepen cultural appreciation but also drive positive attention to Emure’s economic and developmental aspirations.
Further details, including the full programme of events, accommodation and security arrangements, and guest highlights will be made available in the coming weeks through official communication channels.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, December 6th, 2025.
Come and be part of history — a day where gratitude meets greatness, and heritage comes alive with colour, rhythm, and royal dignity.
Stay tuned, prepare your attire, inform your kin, and get ready for a celebration like no other.
