The newly installed Elemure of Emure-Ekiti, His Royal Majesty, Oba James Babatunde Ajiboye, Otutubiosun I, has given a firm assurance of his commitment to uplifting the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Emure, promising prompt interventions that will raise its facilities to a standard worthy of national emulation.
Oba Ajiboye made this pledge while receiving the NYSC State Coordinator for Ekiti State, Alhaji Riko Abdullahi and his entourage during a courtesy visit to the palace. The royal father, who ascended the throne following the passing of his predecessor, assured that under his reign, the NYSC scheme in Ekiti would enjoy robust backing, adding that he would mobilise relevant stakeholders to address the camp’s pressing needs without delay.
“I have always believed in giving my best to society and the NYSC camp in Emure is part of this community’s pride,” Oba Ajiboye said. “It is my desire to see it flourish and become a model for the rest of the country. We will act swiftly and decisively to make this happen.”
Alhaji Abdullahi, who led a high-powered delegation of NYSC officials, explained that their visit was to formally felicitate with the monarch on his enthronement and to reaffirm the scheme’s commitment to working closely with the traditional institution in the interest of national unity and youth development.
The State Coordinator used the opportunity to highlight some of the challenges confronting the camp—ranging from infrastructure gaps to facility maintenance—and appealed for the traditional council’s intervention to ensure corps members have a conducive environment for orientation activities year after year.
Responding, Oba Ajiboye expressed deep gratitude for the NYSC’s visit and goodwill message, describing the corps as a critical pillar in national integration. He revealed plans to embark on a landmark project within the camp, one that would bear his name and serve as a lasting legacy for both the kingdom and the scheme.
The royal father’s words were met with warm applause from the visiting team, which included the NYSC Assistant Director, Human Resource Management; High Chief Medayese; the Head of Guidance and Counselling; the NYSC Public Relations Officer; the Emure Local Government Inspector; and corps members serving in the community.
With the monarch’s declaration of support, many in Emure and beyond believe the NYSC camp is set to witness a new era of development, one marked by swift actions, improved facilities, and stronger ties between the corps and its host community.
