Oyebanji Dissolves Ekiti Executive Council, Retains Key Members

Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council with immediate effect, marking a significant shake-up in his administration.

In a statement issued on Sunday by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Habibat Adubiaro, all affected commissioners and special advisers were directed to hand over to the permanent secretaries or the most senior civil servants in their respective ministries, departments, and agencies.

Governor Oyebanji expressed gratitude to the departing cabinet members for their contributions to the state’s development, commending their dedication and wishing them success in their future endeavours.

However, the governor retained some key officials whose portfolios he described as critical to the administration’s ongoing reforms and development agenda. The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, as well as the Commissioners for Health and Human Services; Agriculture and Food Security; Education; Works; and Trade, Investment, Industry and Cooperatives, will remain in office.

Also unaffected by the shake-up are the Special Advisers on Special Education and Social Inclusion, and on Lands, Survey and e-GIS. In addition, all Directors General who are members of the State Executive Council will retain their positions — including the Director General, Office of Transformation and Service Delivery (OTSD); the Director General, Sustainable Development Goals and Project Monitoring (SDGs); and the Director General, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP).

Political observers say the dissolution signals a strategic restructuring by the governor as he seeks to reposition his administration for the next phase of governance in Ekiti State.
