The Ekiti State Government will, this Sunday, July 6, commence a three-week intensive training programme for 500 newly recruited personnel of the Amotekun Corps, Anti-Grazing Marshals, and the Agro-Marshall Task Force, as part of a strategic move to strengthen the state’s local security architecture and safeguard rural livelihoods.

The orientation programme, which will run from Sunday, July 6 to Friday, July 25, 2025, will take place at the NYSC Orientation Camp located in Ise-Orun/Emure axis of Ekiti State.

This was made known in a statement issued by the State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, and made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti.

Holistic Security Training to Enhance Tactical and Community Policing Capacity

According to Olatunbosun, the three-week session is designed to equip recruits with both theoretical knowledge and practical field skills required to effectively discharge their duties across their respective domains. The training will incorporate modules on community policing, conflict resolution, tactical operations, intelligence gathering, anti-grazing enforcement, and agricultural asset protection.

“The programme will emphasize teamwork, adaptability, physical endurance, legal awareness, and cultural intelligence—key qualities for the successful implementation of grassroots security in our unique socio-cultural context,” the statement said.

He noted that the exercise represents a pivotal step in the Oyebanji-led administration’s security reform agenda, which prioritizes local solutions to local challenges through a multifaceted approach that combines security, agriculture, and rural development.

Government Commitment to Safe Farmlands and Livelihoods

Olatunbosun emphasized that the establishment and expansion of the Amotekun, Anti-Grazing, and Agro-Marshall outfits reflect the state government’s unwavering resolve to combat open grazing, curtail insecurity in agrarian communities, and address the lingering menace of farmer-herder conflicts.

“This training underscores Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to building a community-driven security network capable of complementing federal law enforcement agencies, particularly in protecting farmlands, rural assets, and critical infrastructure,” he stated.

He urged all newly engaged operatives to report at the training venue early on Sunday to facilitate seamless accreditation and integration into the orientation programme, which will officially commence by 10 a.m.

Olatunbosun added that the administration will continue to support the security sector through recruitment, capacity building, welfare incentives, and modern equipment to ensure that Ekiti remains one of the most secure states in the country.
