EMURE-EKITI, EKITI STATE – In a heartwarming display of cultural harmony and community integration, members of the Idoma community residing in Emure-Ekiti have joined hundreds of well-wishers in paying homage to His Royal Majesty, Oba James Babatunde Ajiboye, Otutubiosun I, the Elemure of Emure-Ekiti.

The visit, which took place within the serene grounds of the Elemure Palace, was marked by warm greetings, goodwill messages and mutual affirmations of peace, unity and coexistence. It was a moment that reaffirmed Emure’s long-standing tradition of hospitality and underscored the evolving tapestry of cultural diversity within the town.

“Emure is Your Jerusalem,” Says the Monarch

Welcoming the delegation of Idoma residents with visible joy and open arms, Oba Ajiboye expressed deep appreciation for the community’s visit, describing it as a “beautiful gesture of brotherhood and shared destiny.” The monarch, in his address, encouraged the Idoma people to continue to see Emure as their home and a land where their dreams are valid.

“Emure is your Jerusalem — your place of peace and promise. I urge you to not only live here but to pray for the land, to invest in her people and to contribute to her growth. We are one people under one God,” the royal father declared, drawing a thunderous round of applause from the gathering.

A Call to Deepen Community Roots

Oba Ajiboye, whose reign has already been marked by outreach and inclusiveness, further urged the Idoma community to deepen their connection with the land by acquiring personal homes and properties in Emure. This, he noted, would foster a stronger sense of identity, permanence and belonging.

“Build here, invest here, raise your children here — let your legacy be planted in the soil of Emure. We are not just neighbours; we are family.”

The monarch’s appeal was particularly well-received by the younger members of the community, many of whom expressed optimism about the inclusive direction of traditional leadership under the current Elemure.

Civic Responsibility and Voter Registration

In a more sobering part of his address, the Elemure of Emure-Ekiti turned his focus to the importance of civic participation, particularly as Nigeria prepares for its next phase of electoral activity. Oba Ajiboye lamented the historically low voter registration numbers in Emure, describing it as a missed opportunity for the people to influence policy and developmental decisions that affect their lives.

He passionately encouraged the Idoma community to mobilize for the upcoming voter registration exercise, stressing that full participation would empower them politically and ensure their interests are represented in local and state governance structures.

“Every resident has a voice — and your voice begins with your voter’s card. Let us make our presence count. Let Emure rise on the strength of an engaged, responsible citizenry.”

An Emblem of Harmony

The Idoma community in their response, thanked His Royal Majesty for his fatherly acceptance and assured him of their continued loyalty and peaceful conduct. Spokesperson for the group, Chief Isaac Eje, noted that the Elemure’s leadership style had endeared him not only to the indigenes of Emure but also to settlers and visitors alike.

“We are proud to live under your leadership, Kabiyesi. You have shown that true kingship is not about territory, but about heart, humility, and wisdom.”

The visit concluded with prayers, photographs, cultural exchange, and a renewed commitment to work together for the peace and prosperity of Emure-Ekiti.

A New Chapter in Communal Integration

As Emure continues to evolve into a more inclusive and forward-thinking town under the reign of Oba Ajiboye, moments such as this speak volumes about the kind of kingdom being built — one where every tribe, tongue, and background finds space to thrive.

The message is clear: in Emure, no one is a stranger; all are stakeholders in the journey toward collective greatness.
