The Elemure of Emure Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba James Babatunde Ajiboye Otutubiosun I, Ajigbotulu of Emure, has embarked on an unprecedented wave of infrastructure development, personally financing projects that promise to transform the social and economic life of the ancient kingdom.
In a move that underscores his deep commitment to the welfare of his people, Kabiyesi Elemure has taken on these projects without any reliance on government funding, demonstrating a rare blend of visionary leadership, selflessness, and hands-on community development.
Speaking through palace aides, the monarch noted that his passion for the progress of Emure Kingdom inspired him to go beyond ceremonial duties, ensuring that tangible, life-changing projects reach his people.
Among the landmark initiatives already underway are:
- Construction of Ajebamidele Road Bridge – This major bridge is designed to improve accessibility and ease movement between key parts of the town. By connecting previously difficult-to-reach areas, it is expected to enhance trade, social interaction and emergency access within the kingdom.
- Idamudu Market Bridge – Recognising the central role markets play in rural economies, Kabiyesi has financed the building of a bridge to improve access to the bustling Idamudu Market. Traders, farmers, and buyers will now have a smoother route to the hub of commerce, helping to boost trade and improve livelihoods.
- Rural Electrification of Masafejo Area – In an ambitious push for modernization, the monarch has funded the extension of electricity to the Masafejo area, stretching from St. Paul’s Anglican Church. The project will bring reliable power to residents and small businesses, unlocking new opportunities for enterprise, education and improved living conditions.
Oba Ajiboye explained that these efforts are not in competition with government programmes but are intended to complement them, ensuring that development reaches all corners of Emure Kingdom as quickly as possible.
“As custodians of tradition, we must also be custodians of progress. Our role goes beyond preserving culture; it includes ensuring our people have the infrastructure and opportunities they need to thrive,” the monarch remarked.
The projects have already begun to inspire hope among the people of Emure, many of whom see them as a practical demonstration of leadership anchored in service. Palace insiders reveal that the Elemure is also exploring further initiatives in education, health and youth empowerment.
Community leaders and residents have lauded the monarch’s initiative, describing it as a “game-changer” that blends the dignity of the throne with the urgency of development needs.
Kabiyesi’s approach has also set a precedent for other traditional rulers, showing that leadership at the grassroots can be both symbolic and deeply practical. By investing personal resources into projects that directly benefit the people, Oba Ajiboye has not only addressed pressing infrastructural gaps but also rekindled a sense of collective responsibility for the kingdom’s progress.
For Emure Kingdom, these bridges and power lines are more than just concrete and cables — they are symbols of a ruler’s love, a community’s rising fortunes, and a vision of a brighter, more connected future.
