Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State, has elevated Dr. Felix Talabi to the prestigious rank of full Professor of Mass Communication, marking a significant milestone in his illustrious career that spans both industry and academia.

The announcement, which came after the university’s 2024 academic staff assessment exercise, underscores decades of consistent excellence and outstanding contributions to scholarship and practice in the field of communication.

Professor Talabi, widely respected as a scholar and industry expert, has carved a niche in journalism, public relations, advertising and media studies. His promotion, observers say, reflects not only his personal achievements but also the university’s commitment to nurturing excellence and recognising distinction.

A remarkable academic voice, Talabi is currently ranked among the Top 500 Nigerian Researchers, an elite list compiled through the joint database of SciVal and Scopus. Even more notable, he is one of just three scholars in Mass Communication across the country to make the 2025 list. With over 110 peer-reviewed publications in reputable local and international journals, he has contributed richly to expanding the frontiers of communication research in Nigeria and beyond.

Beyond the classroom and research lab, Talabi’s career began in the advertising industry, where he made his mark as a creative and strategic professional. Over the years, he successfully bridged industry and academia, ensuring his teaching, mentorship, and research remain grounded in real-world relevance. He is also a member of several professional bodies that further testify to his active involvement in the continuous growth of communication practice.

Reacting to the news, fellow media scholar, Dr. Tosin Adesile, described the appointment as “a well-deserved honour,” noting that Talabi has consistently shown passion, resilience, and a deep commitment to both his students and the communication industry at large.

Redeemer’s University, a faith-based institution established by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), has continued to earn a reputation as one of Nigeria’s leading centres of academic excellence and innovation. With this latest milestone, the university further cements its place as a hub for nurturing scholars of global relevance.

For Professor Talabi, the new rank is not only a personal triumph but also a testament to years of dedication, sacrifice, and an unyielding belief in the transformative power of communication.
